A Note
to WCVM Members and Associates
The
World Council for Venue Management (WCVM)
unites a number of major associations worldwide that
represent public assembly venue industry professionals
and facilities.
Its
five current member associations together provide professional
resources, forums and benefits for more than 5,000 individuals
who manage and operate venue facilities or are otherwise
allied with the industry. They further represent 1,200
of the world's stadia, arenas, coliseums, convention/exhibition
centers, performing arts centers and conference venues.
Founded
in 1997, the WCVM seeks actively to enhance communication
and professional development through the exchange of
information and technology among member associations
and their individual members in order to facilitate
wider knowledge and understanding of the public assembly
venue industry.
The
impetus for the establishment of the WCVM arose from
a felt need on the part of the founding associations
to reach out to an international audience and share
information and data on a global basis while in no way
diluting the quality services the associations were
already providing to their local members.
This
impetus was carried forward at a meeting in Barcelona,
Spain, in June 1996, held at the invitation of the European
Arenas Association, the Venue Management Association
(Asia and Pacific) Limited, and the International Association
of Assembly Managers.
This
meeting affirmed the value of a worldwide organization
that would meet the global information and communication
resource needs of a large number of existing associations
in the public assembly venue management industry.
The
current member associations of the WCVM are: Association
Internationale des Palais de Congrès (AIPC), Asia
Pacific Exhibition and Convention Council (APECC), European Association of Event
Centers (EVVC), International Association of Assembly
Managers (IAAM) and the Venue Management
Association (Asia and Pacific) Limited (VMA).
We
cordially encourage all working professionals in the
public assembly venue industry as well others with an
interest in the industry to browse this website to discover
the many and varied benefits and resources that the
WCVM has to offer.
